May 2011

Lake Texoma elevation is 613.33 which is 1 1/2 ft low and water tempter is 64 degrees. The striper fishing has picked up and the sand bass fishing has been excellent. Were finding allot steady action but the sizes have varied from day to day.The wind the past several weeks has really made it tough to get to the feeding stripers but when we can move around a little we seem to put a box of stripers and sand bass together.

Lake Texoma striper fishing report

I think this year has a lot of us baffled. We have sand bass that should have spawned out a month ago still full of eggs and we have threadfin shad that shouldn't be spawning until next month spawning now.

Searching for Better Fish
Lots of rain and storms should mean a successful striper spawn this year for Lake Texoma. Most of our larger fish are now up river delivering their eggs to ensure a healthy and stable population of fish. The fishing this past week has continued to improve but with the late spawn it is not as good as it has been in years past this time of year. Little fish are almost guaranteed now and you can catch as many as you want all day long. Catching better fish, since there are limited numbers in the main lake now, takes a little more skill and a lot more luck. I’ve been spending most of the time on my trips trying to put nice fish in the box. Some days it works out for me and some days I have to settle for the little fish.
