January is normally a month when striper fishing is not on the top of your list of things to do. We do have a select group of fishermen that wouldn't miss a chance at some big stripers in the winter. Boy, we have located some big stripers! Yesterday, we had 6 anglers in 2 boats that had a day to remember. They boarded at 11 am with adrenalin pumping. The first fish of the trip attacked the Road Runner jig and started stripping line, after a 5 minute fight we landed the 16lb. striper. What a way to start!
Five hours later, both boats had caught a total of 63 stripers up to 23.5lbs. The winter fishing is legendary on Lake Texoma. We released 6 fish from 14 to 16 lbs. Striper Express specializes in artificial lure fishing. We have a wonderful lake to back us up, and is chock full of striped bass. We sell "the thrill of the hunt!" If you like to bass fish this is an adventure not to be missed. We often compare it to bass on steroids!
We caught all the fish on RoadRunner 1oz.jigs, Moe's Dead Assassins and Shad Sticks from Stripedbasstackle.com. We are fishing main lake points and are slow rolling the jigs close to the bottom. A good tip is, If you think your reeling to slow…slow down. These trophies are rogue fish and tend to be in small groups. Like big bucks that don't run with the pack. These "pigs" produce vicious strikes and line stripping fights!
Greetings everyone from Lake Texoma and Striper Express Guide Service.
All these cold nights have cooled the lake and it is jig fishing at it's finest most days. Been some real nice stripers caught this last week. Small fish are not with these schools at all. It's a great time of year for the big fish.
A soft bait on a jighead been my weapon of choice plus a few roadrunners and buck-hair jigs. The fish are really moving up the rivers as of late. North of 70 and west of 377 are the areas to target but there are still plenty of fish mid-lake so don't overlook it. No live bait needed. Gulls are helping on some days but fish are on structure and points.
For your lure needs check out www.moestackleshop.com. His prices are unbeatable and products are superb! Tell him we sent you and I promise the prices will SHOCK you for sure. Great christmas idea for your favorite angler.
The fishing is still great but bait in my area is mostly non-existent. I have traveled some l hour to find it for my pending fishing trips. We have been anchoring on a ledge, 47-55 feet. and fish stayed with us, til we limited, and then burned bait, staying out on the water for the enjoyment of it.
Big fish are skinny, but the combinations of fish, giving lots of filets, to take home. The weather was cold this week, but the weekend turned out nice. Believe this Winter will be good all way to Spring. I am going to take a break for few weeks, hopefully going to see my grandkids in California . Good fishing…….JD
The water temperature of Lake Texoma is 49-54 degrees. The Lake Texoma elevation is 617.80 ft above sea level.
With the Texoma area temperatures the last couple of days being extremely cooler, the Lake Texoma striper fishing is now at its best. Large numbers of stripers are being caught daily. Live bait fishing has been solid in 30-60 ft of water while on anchor and even while drifting fishing thru the working seagulls. Gizzard shad are plentiful on the west end of the lake this time of year. Threadfin shad will also work but the gizzard shad are our winter bait of choice as they stay good and frisky thru out the day, while the threadfin shad tend to get pretty weak after a few hours in the bait tank.

Lake Texoma Fishing Report :: Hot Fishing in Cold Weather!
I just got moved in to my new house and got the internet set up and I finally found the time to put out a fishing report. It feels great to finally get everything moved, now if I could just get all of my stuff to jump out of the boxes and put up where it belongs. The cold weather has definitely set in and the fishing remains as good as ever. The striper fishing is phenomenal and the catfishing is picking up. The big cats are still hanging around the cleaning docks put should start schooling up in the deep water any day now. Live bait on anchor in 30-50 ft is producing fish as fast as you can drop the bait down. Lures are working equally as well. 5” glow sassy shad with a 1 1/2 oz head and chartreuse spiked tail are the ticket fished in 15-30ft and slow rolled along the bottom under the birds.

The water temperature of Lake Texoma is 59-61 degrees. The lake elevation is 618.27. The last two weeks of striper fishing we've seen very little changes. On our live bait trips, it has been nothing to mow thru 250+ baits in a matter of a couple of hours. We are catching our share of the smaller little footballs, but we are catching alot of the healthy 17"-19" stripers with good overs mixed in.
The next several days are forecasted for some much needed cooler weather. This is what we need to get the larger stripers on the prowl for an easy meal. Although it can be cold and ugly outside this time of year, the next couple of months you really do have a much better chance of hooking up with a Lake Texoma trophy. Bait fishing creek and river channel ledges in 35-65 feet of water has worked well for me. Sea gulls are still working the schools of stripers all over the lake. Lure fishing remains to be good fishing backs of creeks to the west of Highport Marina using 3/4 and 1oz glo sassy shads and super flukes. For those of you not interested in the early morning bite, afternoon trips have been equally productive and a little warmer. So bundle up and get ready for some Lake Texoma winter fishing.

Greetings everyone from Lake Texoma and Striper Express Guide Service. These cold fronts followed by warm days have the stripers slowly moving up the rivers and creeks. The sand bass are fooled and all egged up ready to spawn. 2nd time in my career i've seen happen. More fish is always a bonus. Sassy shad been king but having some luck with buckhair jigs and flukes. The winter bite is close but there are still thousands of gulls all over the lake to help locate feeding schools. One day it's all pearl then the next all chartruese so try it all if your not getting hits. Also dip those tails in spike-it garlic dip.
Big Fish of the Week a good looking 12 lber.
The live bait fishing in great on river ledges. The tabletop been hot for over a month. Drop down bait and they will come. Almost don't have to mark any but the fish are roaming, hungry and aggressive. Shad are easy to get early under lights or later in the day in creeks.

The water temperature of Lake texoma is 64 degrees with an elevation of 619.50 ft. The past several weeks of striper fishing has been outstanding. I have mainly fished live bait the past couple of weeks with a few lure fishing trips. I would have to say at this time the live bait fishing is definately better. I have fished west of highport Marina and back to the north in 35-45 feet of water with great catches in both direction. We are starting to see the fish put on weight and are not catching near as many skinny fish and the smaller fish are chunks.

Greetings everyone from Lake Texoma and Striper Express Guide Service. This fall fishing is just fantastic! Gulls and schools are all over the lake. Fish are on structure and in the creeks. Stripers are roaming the flats…seeing the pattern here? Sassy shad has been getting us easy limits on most days. On some days they want chartreuse then the next day white glo or pearl. Spike-it dip been helpful on most days.
The live bait fishing is awesome as well. Shad are easy to get early in most marinas early or in the backs f some creeks later in the day. Drifting or on anchor is working just get the fish under you. Heard reports of all depths but 20-40ft along the river channel near some activity always a sure bet this time of year.

Texas weather is awesome and the fish are BITING!
Water Temp: 68 Lake Elevation: 619.68
We are experiencing the best fishing we have had in six months RIGHT NOW! The unseasonably warm temperatures are bringing some very nice boxes of fish to the table. The lake water has begun to cool which brings great fishing all day long and will continue until the water temperature gets below 40 degress. The stripers are still hitting pencil poppers on topwater until about thirty minutes after the sun rises. Overcast days will allow for more topwater action until 9 or 10am. The stripers are feeding and are very active right now. We have brought lots of nice stripers over 10 lbs. to the cleaning tables and plenty of box fish. After the topwater action, the silversides are biting on soft bait sassy shad. 12-16” stripers are being caught “all over” the lake right now. Anchoring drop offs 18-24’ have been producing great box fish on live bait.
We continue to use pencil poppers and soft plastic lures for all you lure fishermen, however every boat that leaves our dock is stocked with plenty of live bait.
Our morning trips for those interested in top water action begin at 5:45am. Afternoon trips begin @ 1pm.
Get in on some of the best fishing of the year!!!
