Lake Texoma water temp is 64-70 degrees and lake elevation is 614.48 feet above sea level. The first part of April, Lake Texoma striper fishing has seen steady improvement. We're still using live bait drift fishing the 15-25 ft depth. The size of the fish has improved from the smaller males to the 16-19" good keepers and your over 20" stripers as well. Just about everywhere I've fished I am finding alot of stripers holding on the flats in 20 ft and less water.
Although we are seeing a good number of healthy stripers we are also seeing some on the skinny side due to our bait situation at Lake Texoma. Due to the colder winter we had it is estimated we lost 50% of our threadfin shad population. Therefore Texas Parks and Wildlife has taken measures to restock the threadfin shad. On Tuesday the 13th, 2000 threadfin shad were brought from Lake Arlington and released into Lake Texoma.
For those of you who like to crappie fish, they are moving into the shallows and are easy picking on minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair on cut bait and minnows. With the warmer days our striper fishing just keeps getting hotter. Limits of stripers are being caught in a matter of a couple hours. So now's the time to come out and enjoy a beautiful day on Lake Texoma.
